Believe in a better tomorrow

I hear crackers. I see happy people all around and my laptop watch says 12:00 am. It’s New Years Eve. As usual this day brings a lot of reflections of the past. The last year had brought many changes in the person I am and in my surrounding, well…..both have been interdependent.
This night in Bangalore is the most expensive nights of all. The glitz and glamour of this city allures all. The big question what is the celebration about? This night is very similar to the one that past and is also very similar to one that will come. The people did not change because of this night. The difference between 11:59 pm 31st December 2011 and 12:00 am 1st January 2012 is just of a minute. How can things change in just a minute???
Then if things are gonna be the same when why this celebrations all of a sudden. A new year will mean nothing more than a change in the year field of the date.
But there is one thing that I suppose everyone does, as the clock strikes midnight, everyone closes their eyes and silently makes a wish , a wish for a better tomorrow. They don’t expect magic, but yes there is hope .
I think its hope that drives us all towards striving for what we believe in .The hope that tomorrow will be better. Yes nothing is gonna change, I will continue to have the same work at office , servers will continue to crash , code will continue to break , managers will remain the evil souls they are. The only thing that is in my hand and that I can change is myself and the way I look at things.
Saw the Coca Cola advertisements, and must congratulate the makers. The advertisement:

"For Every tank in the world, there are 1,31,000 stuffed toys;
For Every fence that one puts; there are 15,00,000 welcome mats;
There are some ignoring the environment but 30,00,000 trees are being planted every day;
For every grown up who can't write, there are 15 kids who can read fairy tale;
Love has more hits than Fear;
While so many believe we are nearing the end, there are 50,00,000 people sending New Year Wishes;
While some fight over petty issues, millions share a Coca-Cola everyday"

Love the advertisement, love the concept.
The past is behind us. What is ahead is new, and we have a chance to make a difference.
It might be just a minute but it gives us a new beginning to try and make a change, to forget the past and design a better tomorrow for ourselves. It is HOPE to which we all cling. This day just rebuilds the faith, that yes tomorrow is gonna be better.
Believe in a better tomorrow.
